The Salt Cave

Submitted by Shue on Saturday, 30 January 2010No Comment

Halo therapy or salt therapy is practiced in many places, especially in Eastern Europe and Germany. Salt is known to have many therapeutic properties which include anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial. Salt laden air is also considered to relieve various disorders of the respiratory system like sinusitis, Asthma, hay fever and smoker’s cough. Many people retreat to a natural salt cave to get these benefits. Recently in London they have a man-made Salt Cave where people can get the same benefits.

The Salt Cave has its walls and floors coated with salt and there is a machine which delivers a very fine salt laden air into the room. When you enter the “Cave”, you do not find any difference in the air, nor do you get any salt taste in your mouth, but the effect is quite dramatic. People, who were suffering from Asthma for a long time found that after spending an hour in the room, increased their lung capacity and the effect lasted for at least for 10 days. There are now many visitors who come on a regular basis and say there they have been benefitted immensely by the therapy. The cost is about 35 pounds per session and also there are packages where you can book for more sessions at lesser cost.
