Running Bare Foot Reduces Stress on the Feet

Running bare foot is frowned upon today. It is not surprising since the foot wear industry is large and makes wearing shoes an attractive option. It is a good option for daily use but when it comes to running, it is the bare foot way which seems to be better for us. Foot wear is a recent innovation. In the early days, men used to run bare foot and the interesting fact is that injuries where lesser then. This is because of the difference in the way the feet touch the ground. When we wear shoes and run, the soles of the feet hit the ground first. This is not a good action and the stress absorption is minimal. When we run bare foot, the fore foot or the part just after the toes hit the ground. This allows for the normal action of the foot and the absorption of the energy is total.

Hence we can see that for long term purposes it is wise to switch to bare foot or minimal foot wear. The new foot wear companies have realised this and are designing minimalistic footwear which protects the foot against stones and thorns but is almost akin to bare foot.
