How You Can Practice Safe Sex
Having safe sex is a precaution everyone should take, given the many STIs one can contract. Most people are scared of contracting HIV the most, but there are many more STIs which are just as risky, that one can contract without penetrative sex.
For every penetrative vaginal sex act, ensure that you have a condom on. This should be worn before any genital contact because an erect penis for instance, contains germs and sperms that can cause infection or pregnancy if they come into contact with the vagina.
If you are having anal sex, you need to wear an ultra-strong condom. Couple this with an effective lubricant to keep the condom from bursting. Non-spermicidally-lubricated condoms are best for anal sex, especially those with a silicone or water-based lubricant. If you are moving from anal to vaginal, make sure you change the condom. It is safer to move from the vagina to the anus if there is no spare condom.
Cover any cuts, lesions and sores with latex gloves or waterproof plasters during foreplay. This is very important especially if the woman is on her periods, or if foreplay involves anal stimulation. Always wash your hands when moving from the anus to the vagina, in the event that you have no gloves on.
