Breast Feeding can Help You Lose Weight

While research on this is still a bit undecided, there are many new moms, like Angelina Jolie, swear by the ability of breast feeding practice to lose weight. In fact, there are many moms who can’t nurse, but they dutifully attach themselves to pumping machines, partly inspired by the thought of getting back into their skinny jeans.
“Women will stop losing or begin to regain weight as soon as their caloric balance — a function of the amount of milk produced, how much they eat and how much energy they spend moving around — tips toward the positive,” said Cornell University nutrition professor Kathleen Rasmussen, an author of the Danish study. “This can occur while women are still nursing or pumping.”
But, it should be remembered that weight loss is after all, a question of how many calories are ingested and how many are burned. Breast feeding offers an easy and highly effective way of burning calories, but it is also important to control calorie intake to ensure weight loss.
